Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker used alone or in combination with other agents to treat hypertension and reduce cardiovascular mortality after myocardial infarction. Valsartan is associated with a low rate of transient serum aminotransferase elevations and has been linked to rare instances of acute liver injury.
Background
Valsartan (val sar' tan) was the second angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) to be approved for use in the United States and is widely used for therapy of hypertension. Valsartan inhibits the renin-angiotensin system by blocking the angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1), which prevents the vasoconstriction and volume expansion induced by circulating angiotensin II which accounts for its antihypertensive activity. Valsartan was approved for use in the United States for hypertension in 1996 and indications were subsequently broaded to the treatment of heart failure and for reduction in cardiovascular mortality in patients with left ventricular dysfunction after myocardial infarction. Valsartan is available in 40, 80, 160 and 320 mg tablets generically and under the trade name Diovan. The typical initial dose of valsartan in adults in 80 to 160 mg once daily, and it is used long term. Valsartan is also available in fixed combinations with hydrochlorothiazide (Diovan-HCT), amlodipine (Exforge and Exforge HCT) and aliskiren (Valturna). Side effects of valsartan are uncommon, but can include headache, dizziness, fatigue, cough, gastrointestinal upset, and fetal toxicity. In addition, many ARBs including valsartan have been linked to cases of severe sprue-like enteropathy. The enteropathy arises after months or years of therapy and presents with severe diarrhea, weight loss, abdominal discomfort and fatigue. Intestinal biopsy shows villous flattening and atrophy similar to celiac disease. However, the enteropathy does not improve with a gluten-free diet but does resolve with stopping the angiotensin receptor blocker.
Hepatotoxicity
Valsartan has been associated with a low rate of serum aminotransferase elevations (<2%) that in controlled trials was no higher than with placebo therapy. These elevations were transient and rarely required dose modification. Rare instances of clinically apparent acute liver injury have been reported in association with valsartan therapy. The onset is usually within 1 to 8 weeks of starting therapy and the serum enzyme pattern is typically hepatocellular with an acute hepatitis-like clinical syndrome. In some instances, cholestasis has developed which can be prolonged and relapsing, but valsartan therapy has not been associated with vanishing bile duct syndrome or chronic liver injury. Immunoallergic manifestations (rash, fever, eosinophilia) are not common, nor is autoantibody formation. In addition, serum aminotransferase elevations can accompany the enteropathy associated with ARB therapy, probably as a result of fatty liver disease and steatohepatitis due to the diarrhea and malnutrition.
Likelihood score: D (Possible rare cause of clinically apparent liver injury).
Mechanism of Injury
The cause of the liver injury that has been associated with valsartan is not known, but it resembles idiosyncratic liver injury due to a hypersensitivity reaction. Valsartan does not appear to be metabolized by the cytochrome P450 system to a major degree.
Outcome and Management
The instances of acute liver injury reported with valsartan use have been self limited and have not resulted in acute liver failure or chronic liver injury. While corticosteroids have been used in cases of severe cholestasis due to ARBs, their efficacy has not been shown and their use is best avoided. Patients with valsartan induced acute liver injury should probably avoid use of other ARBs, although cross sensitivity to liver injury among the members of this class of agents has not been shown.

I
obtained your names from various Jewish Groups, Rabbis and
Jewish Coalition PAC Lists. My name is Loretta Miller and I
am running for US Congress Florida District 15 . I am writing to you
to tell you of a serious matter that is happening in Congress. Just
because someone tells you they stand for Israel or is a friend of
Israel, they could be a “wolf in sheep's clothing” and after you
vote for them, it could be too late. I found two Congressmen, both
Christians who claim to be “for Israel”, since the Republican
Parties platform is Pro Israel. We don't know realistically who the
others are or how many there are, but there is a Bill that these two
Congressmen are pushing through Congress, which will not only
endanger US citizens but also Israel. US Congressmen Duncan
Hunter, (R-CA) and Dennis Ross (R-FL) have relaunched Congressional
pressure on the White House to sell deadly drones to Jordan.
Hunter and Ross have been lobbying for this deal for almost two years
now. Both want Jordan to obtain Reaper and Predator drones.
The ruling regime in
Jordan cannot be trusted with sophisticated, deadly American military
technology. What is most disturbing is at best that these
Congressmen are ignorant of this danger, or worse, aware of it and
still pushing for the deal.
The common rhetoric
is that Jordan is a “safe” ally of the US. Nonetheless, facts
speak louder than any narrative Mr. Hunter, Mr. Ross and their
friends which includes Democrats and Republicans may choose to
believe and thereby impose upon the rest of us.
To
begin with Mr. Hunter and Mr. Ross justifies giving Jordan such
deadly and advanced weapons system, because he insists that “Jordan
is a key ally in the war on ISIS”. How valid is this claim?
Last year, Jordan’s
regime operatives were caught stealing US weapons and selling them to
rogue militants. One of those guns was illegally sold by them to a
senior Jordanian counter-terrorism officer who used it to kill two
American military trainers and two South Africans. What is alarming
being that none of those officers involved have been named or
arrested, and the king has never been questioned on the matter.
Further, 87,000
rounds of ammunition were stolen from the British army in Jordan
right at Jordan’s military camps in the south and then mysteriously
transported to the Syrian border and sold to, you guessed it, ISIS!
Could such things happen in a country like Jordan without the full
consent of the King of Jordan? And even if he is, at best, reckless,
would Mr. Hunter and Mr. Ross like to give him drones if he cannot
even control ammunition and sells them to ISIS?
The
bad news doesn’t stop here. CNN itself, usually very sympathetic to
the King of Jordan, has confirmed he was the second biggest buyer of
ISIS oil, securing cash flow for ISIS which the terror organization
uses to kill Muslims, Christians, and Yazidis. Other media reports
confirmed extensive business dealing between Jordan’s regime and
ISIS including 4,500 Toyota trucks sold to Jordan’s government that
ended in ISIS hands. Dennis Rosshas

The
problem is even deeper than this. Last November, a Jordanian airman
executed three American servicemen in cold blood. The M16 he used,
was paid for by US taxpayers so was the uniform he was wearing and
his body armor. Those special forces officers were training Syrian
rebels to fight ISIS. A video of the execution was shown to the
families of the victims. In the video, the executioner is seen
chasing the soldiers for six and half minutes, while they were waving
their hands and shouting in Arabic and English: “We’re
American’s, we’re friends!” The video is called on YouTube US
trainers killed in Jordan shooting. What
was more bizarre is Jordan’s regime’s reaction: They accused the
victims of failing to follow the entry procedures and then went as
far as defending the killer in an official statement, and shamelessly
stating he had applied the rules of engagement. Massacre came less
than a year after the previous incident noted above, and in both
cases the killers were Jordanian officers directly engaged in the war
in Terror. James Moriarty, the father of one of the soldiers killed
makes the best argument Hunter and Ross must hear: “If Jordan is
our friend, do we need any enemies?” That triple murder was not the
first time a Jordanian airman killed the innocent. Captain Al-Majali
of the Royal Jordanian Air Force joined ISIS in 2013 and died
fighting for it in 2015. The list of Jordanian officers who have
joined terror groups and killed Americans does not end here, there
are others.
After
all of this, could Congressmen Hunter and Ross give us any guarantees
those drones won’t be used by Islamists with Jordan’s forces to
kill Americans, Israelis, or Jordanians? In fact, why wouldn’t they
as the King of Jordan has been protecting those killers and defending
them as with the executioner who killed three American officers last
November. Those drones, if given to Jordan’s regime, could be used
to carry out terrorist attacks across Jordan’s borders to Israel,
especially that they could fly low and are less detectable than an
F16 or worse, cause strife between the US and Israel because the
drones were built in the US. The drones are smaller in size and
therefore somewhat harder to detect. In addition, terrorists could
use the drones to attack Israel, US troops in Jordan, or even
Jordanian civilian targets from the safety of their offices and then,
perhaps, they could flee and join terror groups in Syria. As a recent
Congressional study report confirms: Jordan is the second largest
supplier of ISIS terrorists. Needless to say, no way this could have
happened for too long with such a high number of fighters without
Jordan’s king turning a blind eye. Or, at best, he is unable to
control his own borders. And yet Mr. Hunter and Mr. Ross want to give
him deadly drones
In
fact, the Syrian Government has officially accused Jordan’s regime
of facilitating terrorist’s entry into Syria. Mr. Hunter and Mr.
Ross are being reckless and dangerously irresponsible, and their acts
could result in engendering Israel’s borders, American troops, and
the Jordanian people as well as the US.
It
is so important that the Jewish Community as well as the Christian
Community to vote these Congressional Leaders out of office and place
those who will not only stand by Israel but also with the American
people who are fighting to keep America safe. This is why I am
running against Dennis Ross for US Congress as a Republican in
District 15. I became a Republican to get Ross out in the Primary. I
am a JFK Democrat which today's Democrats try to silence.

Vote Against this Bill and put to rest could make the difference in
protecting America as well as Israel our only true friend in the

WASHINGTON — Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., is currently awaiting trial for misusing over $250,000 of federal campaign funds for personal use. But this hasn't stopped him from stirring the pot further.
In an interview with Barstool Sports' Zero Blog Thirty podcast, Hunter said while serving as a Marine field artillery officer in Iraq, his unit had "killed probably hundreds of civilians, if not scores, if not hundreds of civilians" and "probably women and children."
Hunter's comments came in response to a question about his support for Navy SEAL Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher, who was accused of using a knife to kill a teenage Islamic State prisoner in Iraq and posing for a picture with the body, and of other killings of civilians.
On the podcast, Hunter said that he "frankly [doesn't] care" if the ISIS fighter was killed, and that "even if everything the prosecutors say is true in this case, then Eddie Gallagher should still be given a break, I think."
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that during a May 25 town hall, Hunter also admitted to posing with a body of an enemy combatant, saying, "a lot of us have done the exact same thing.”
Recent reports suggested that Trump might pardon Gallagher and other men accused of war crimes. Gallagher, who has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, has become a cause célèbre among conservative lawmakers. In an op-ed in USA TODAY, Hunter said that Gallagher "cannot expect to receive even a semblance of a fair trial," calling for Trump to pardon Gallagher.
In its annual report on civilian casualties associated with U.S. military operations, the Department of Defense explains that civilian casualties are a "tragic and unavoidable part of war," but "no force in history has been more committed to limiting harm to civilians than the U.S. military."

Dennis Ross used to travel to Anaheim California collect money from Disney (Ross was the Workers Compensation Attorney for Disney) and listed this huge amount of money he sent home as donations. I wrote to each person on his list telling them they have a choice. I never asked for a donation and 95% of the mail sent out come back as non existing or deceased. Three friends, three lawyers, who represent you who are Trump supporters who broke the laws. And the Republicans tried to hush this up. If you want to remove these Republican Nazis, the Democrat Party better get their act together and support me!

On Thursday night, a group of people gathered in Washington state to raise money for their campaign to create Liberty, a 51st state specifically made for conservative Christians.
I guess they’ve never heard of Alabama.
Liberty would span several states in the Pacific Northwest:

The lineup of speakers included Shea, a Spokane Valley Republican who has championed the Liberty State movement; Spokane City Councilman Mike Fagan; Spokane City Council candidate Tim Benn; and Loren Culp, the police chief in Republic, Washington, who made national headlines when he pledged not to enforce a controversial gun control initiative that voters passed in November.

Before you call them extremists, though, at least listen to what Shea’s legislative assistant Rene’ Holaday said:

Okay, now you can call them extremists. (They don’t have a publicly available Constitution for the new state, but they do have an official state rifle: The AR-15.)
There were protesters at the event but it didn’t stop Shea from spreading his insane Christian propaganda:
Shea delivered the last speech of the night, covering many of his usual talking points. He denied the existence of global warming, instead blaming seasonal wildfires on changes in forest management practices. He spoke of the cultural and political differences between Eastern and Western Washington. He claimed the United States is “a Christian nation” under siege by atheists and Communists.

“The Communists and atheists — those that are responsible for the deaths of more people than any other belief system in the history of the world — unfurled their flag on the Capitol steps this last spring,” he said.
It’s unclear how much money they made selling pies, or how a few bucks will make it easier to create a new state, but I, for one, am fully in favor of having one state that all the conservative Christians move to. Give them one representative, two senators, and leave all the rest to the sensible people who respect human rights, fight for civil liberties, care about facts, and don’t fetishize weapons.

Texas bill would allow death penalty for women who get abortions
(Meredith) -- For the first time in state history, this week a Texas House committee held a public hearing on a bill that would allow criminal prosecution of women for their abortions.
The bill currently makes all abortions a crime, with no exceptions. Prosecutors could even bring the charge of homicide for abortions, a crime that in Texas could carry a sentence of the death penalty.
State Rep. Tony Tinderholt, a Republican, first introduced the bill in 2017, and again this year. The bill has many legislative hurdles to clear before becoming law, but this week's hearing marked the most progress yet by Tinderholt's proposal.
The bill was still pending on Tuesday after Democrats decried the argument made by the bill's supporters as contradictory.
"I’m trying to reconcile in my head the arguments that I heard tonight about how essentially one is okay with subjecting a woman to the death penalty for the exact — to do to her the exact same thing that one is alleging she is doing to a child," Democrat state Rep. Victoria Neave said.
Tinderholt told the Texas Observer the bill is meant to "force" women to be "more personally responsible with sex."
"Right now, it’s real easy. Right now, they don’t make it important to be personally responsible because they know that they have a backup of ‘oh, I can just go get an abortion," Tinderholt said.
Democratic state Rep. Donna Howard criticized Tinderholt's statement telling the Observer she was "baffled" he could have such a "lack of compassion and understanding."
The bill makes no exceptions for individual cases involving rape or incest. Tinderholt said he's "a firm believer that God creates children in his own image, regardless of how that child is brought into the world, it’s created in his image, and how can someone want to destroy that?"
The bill is also receiving push back from abortion opponents. Republican Rep. Jeff Leach, the committee chair, said he would not support any bill on abortion that makes women civilly or criminally liable and the antiabortion group Texans for Life also expressed their opposition to the bill.
